So I know was mentioned about Mike Brey being a possible guy at Georgetown....

Just saw this from Jeff Goodman:
Big news out of Notre Dame.

Mike Brey tells me that he is not retiring.

“Definitely not done coaching.” - Brey

Great to hear from one of the best guys in the business.

now, I don't know if this means he's going to stay at Notre Dame, but if not, Georgetown with all his local ties would make so much sense.
And now Goodman saying he's leaving Notre Dame after this year.

There’s no doubt that Brey is a class act, and he did a reasonably good job at Notre Dame. But to be honest, I was always surprised that he lasted as long as he did there. With all of the resources available to him at that school, and with all that name recognition, and with the competition in the Big East and then the ACC, I expected that at some point they would have developed a Final Four team that could have competed for a national championship. They did get to a couple of Elite Eights and maybe that was what he needed at that point to be able to keep his tenure going.

But would I hire him to revitalize the program at Georgetown? No, I would not. College basketball is a draining job. Physically exhausting and emotionally tiring. Brey is now in his 60s and he’s be starting from scratch there. I think that rebuilding program would take the energy of a younger man.

Notre Dame is a really weird situation. Only been to 1 Final 4 in their entire school history. Brey took them to the Elite 8 for the first time since then(1978).

If you like to watch a team run an offense by hoisting up 30 footers, then having their giant elephants shove the defense's big men in the back to grab rebounds for putbacks, and have Brian O'Connell swallow his whistle, then Mike Brey is your guy. Well, thats they way he was during his Big East years.

Wahab is back so I guess that ends the speculation.
