Just a caveat that while Bracket Matrix is a composite, some submissions aren't as recent as others. Right now, the most recent submissions are 1/25, which means they might not include Xavier's win over UConn (depends on time of day submitted), while some submissions were last made a week ago. It doesn't matter as much now, but this will start to matter closer to the end of the season. I always like scrolling across the columns to see if there is a big difference in seeding based on time of submission after notable games.

The problem with the Matrix is that it has brackets from a week ago. At the tail end when it's done daily it makes more sense.

Also it doesn't have a quality thing to it- where any bracket published is counted. To include ones that historically have not been good at all are counted.

I don't mind the lack of a quality thing, because the idea is about the effectiveness of crowdsourcing. Also, the Committee has a habit of sometimes changing their criteria in weird ways year to year, so historical accuracy isn't always a super strong indicator of future accuracy, particularly for edge cases. Sometimes the weird submissions are catching something different about this Committee that others are missing.

The timing of the bracket submissions is significant, though. Xavier is listed as the top 4 seed with possibly no brackets updated after a road win over a top 10 team in NET/Kenpom. Pretty much guaranteed that they would slide up into the 3 seed range if the brackets were up to date

Case in point right now- they have nothing updated since before Wednesday games.

Once we get to March, submissions start happening much more quickly, though it still pays to keep an eye on the dates along the top.

Right. Wish they would give you the option to have the matrix just for that days submissions. That would be worthwhile IMO.

5 teams seems like a near lock at this point. Will be interesting to see if Hall can get a couple of upper echelon wins in league play and get a 6th bid.
