Holloway is a perfect fit for Seton Hall

For some reason nobody on this board has brought up this topic. It is amazing to me how Holloway was already kind of a perfect fit for Seton Hall before the last 9 days… New York guy, former Seton Hall PG that led the team to a sweet 16 once. Did some fine recruiting under Willard, and has never played or coached except at small Catholic schools. Good fit. Last few years he’s turned St. Peter’s into a team that is a consistent top 3 in the MAAC.

Willard rumors happen and his NCAA caliber team folds in the first round. Who can blame a lackluster performance on a team that has that swirling around the program. But the rumors about Holloway to Seton Hall happened at the same time. And instead of them folding they go on this tear. Now Holloway in 9 days has gone from a relatively unknown coach to a national sensation… probably the hottest mid-major coach since Brad Stevens.

It deserves discussion I think. And really a larger discussion about how our conferences coaches are uniquely stacking up to be a really neat group of coaches… many of whom could make more money elsewhere, but don’t care to leave because they are so culturally, institutionally, geographically, and/or passionately linked to the brand they coach for. It’s really quite something when you think about it. 7 of the 11 assuming Holloway goes to SH look like pretty solid locks at their programs. And Jordan and Ewing would be 8 and 9 if they weren’t on the hot seat.
