Athletic 1/21 (was really good last year looking at the Matrix)
Villanova 3
Providence 4
Xavier 5
UConn 6
Seton Hall 6
Marquette 7
Creighton 9

Bracketville-
Villanova 12-3
Providence 17-5
Xavier 19-5
Marquette 20-5
UConn 21-6
Seton Hall 27-7
Creighton 37-10
(not sure how I'd feel having the Big East being the official sponsor of the 5/12 line).

One thing I kind of miss is rooting for bid thieves across the country. With so many BE teams in the bubble in recent years, I don't get the chance to do that anymore. Maybe I'll get that chance this season.

this might be a year where bid thieves help the Big East as lets take Houston. If they lose in the AAC tourney, that's only going to help out the top teams here.

Obviously there's still plenty of time for things to change, but it is kind of wild seeing 7 of 11 teams projected in having nobody even remotely near the bubble.

Like I said on yesterday's game thread a lot of that is due to the bottom 4 teams being 1-18 vs the other 7 teams. Don't think the league has ever had that kind of separation before. That helps the situation out quite a lot.

oops.

So looking back on the 7 years for the league before last year- the bottom 3 teams averaged winning just over 14 games per year in conference play. With the h2h they would be guaranteed 6 wins. So 8 wins over the other 7 teams. That of course impacts bids and seeds. (if you did it the bottom 4 teams- they averaged winning just over 22 games per year- guaranteed 14 wins- so the exact same 8 wins against the other 6 teams.).

In a weird way, it's also helpful to not have Villanova be on the top of the mountain, followed by anyone and everyone else. They are still very much a top-10 team, but with two conference losses already, they that has helped other teams fight for wins (and more importantly seeds). If they were 9-0, Creighton and Marquette resumes would look different (as would anyone that inevitably beats them during the rest of conference play). There is no clear top dog this season, but several are very much top-15-level programs (even though they may not be ranked as high).
