We're always talking about what if. If we don't get big win in OOC, oh well there's always conf play. Then we don't do well there and it's "oh well we could win 50 games in a row in BET" and we don't. Enough of the excuses and go take it. We have an aging fanbase that is now mostly 60+ who remember the 1985 Final Four team well. Even the Elite 8 team of 99 was decades ago. It's the same with the Mets...living off any memory of 1986...eventually the people who remember it well get older and you need fanbases to survive by making new memories. Every 4 yrs practically we say it will be different and it never is. This is the year, no next, no next, no this time for real! I'm worried that if we don't start winning games like this and living up to potential for once that we will have an entire generation who does not care about SJ hoops. Most teams like us lose these games 8 or 9 of every 10x. We need to make it happen. Time to give new generations of SJ fans something to hang their hats on and tell their future kids about.

AT least your Mets have Max Scherzer now.

I'm not bitter as a Nats fan. I'm really not.... lol.

Yes that's true...but the Mets always find a way to underperform too...or their pitchers get hurt. Every year. So I wouldn't be shocked if he was having Tommy John by July unfortunately. New York sports have really been awful on the national scene for the better part of 30-40 yrs.

As a Braves fan I won't be bitter about anything that happens next year, but it was a rough couple decades. We had less playoff success than the Mets had going back to the late 90's, but then it just sort of happened when I didn't expect it to. A few months ago I doubted we'd make the playoffs, let alone win the World Series.

As you mentioned in your other post, yes 11 games rather than 13. Still not used to that lol.

MM- I totally get it but I'm not getting hyped anymore for St. John's prior to mid-January. When's the last time we were in a solid position mid-January? 2 decades ago? Even when we do well OOC we tend to choke by the start of Big East play. (that said, if St. John's wins tonight then that mentality probably goes out the window, but that's unlikely to happen)

GTMO- if this were 22 years ago and we were coming off a Tournament run like Lil Creighton then we'd be more optimistic, but I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than disappointed again. Regardless I'll be rooting hard for the Johnnies, as always. :)

1 thing that I know with the RPI would be good- and I think it's in the NET- this is considered a neutral site game for St John's. Like if St John's wins- would count as 1.0 wins instead of 0.6 wins. A loss would be only 1.0 loss instead of 1.4 losses.

feels here with 6 minutes to go that St John's has taken the punch from Kansas. Huge few minutes here coming up to see if can get it closer before halftime.

43-30. Why aren’t the Johnnies better?

This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
