BIG EAST v. FOOTBALL 5 2021-2022

Postby redmen9194 » Sun Nov 07, 2021 11:06 pm

We are less than 48 hours from the start of hoops and Big East Basketball. As we have done since the 2013-2014 season, we will keep track of how we fare against the supposedly superior Football Five. Note we have yet to have a losing record against them. We will shoot out the week’s schedule and update MTE as teams move through. Good luck to all the Big East teams in the non-con.

Coming up:

Friday, 11/12 - Nova vs. UCLA
Monday 11/15 - Providence vs. Wisconsin
Illinois vs. Marquette
Tuesday 11/16 - The Hall vs. Michigan
Creighton vs. Nebraska
Wednesday 11/17 - Johnnies vs. Indiana
Michigan State vs. Butler
Thursday 11/18 - Ohio State vs. Xavier
Marquette vs. Ole Miss
Rutgers vs. DePaul
Saturday 11/20 - Nova vs. Tennessee

Go Big East!

...and so it Begins!

It Fall and the leaves are turnin' colors. New England is as pretty as a postcard. Pass the
hot chocolate or warm eggnog please. Boy oh boy, what I wouldn't give for a NE Boiled dinner
about right now! The lesser sports futbol & football are either petering out or over the halfway point
and are becoming less relevant as each day passes.

I hear a familiar sound of sneaks screeeechin' on the hardwood, balls bouncin' on courts,
the smell of sweat odor in the air and Borax in the lockerroom. Halloween has come & gone...
ehh? It Must be Hoops Season folks!

Thanks Redmen this is my favorite thread on this board every year!

For November, besides Nebraska, Creighton’s only other opportunity is the possibility of playing Colorado in the final of the Paradise Jam in St Thomas Nov. 22.

Hey Novachap, why the hell did Nova schedule like it’s a mid major getting buy games?!?
AT UCLA
AT Tennessee
AT Baylor
AT Syracuse (well, MSG is fairly neutral)

What the hell?

Creighton has Iowa State and Arizona State coming to Omaha in December btw.

Django,
Colorado State, not Colorado...will be the best matchup the Jays face in November. If
they get the matchup. Colorado, like Creighton, lost a ton of veteran players and had
to reload via recruiting.

CSU brings back most of their team vets, had a decent year last season, and are
a fav of several of the national talking heads.

Both got ARV's in a few pre-season polls.

The Gavitt Games begin and the old Commish must be smiling. Marquette packs the arena and knocks off #10 Illinois. Then in another part of the great state of Wisconsin, the Friars take out the Badgers to complete the Monday Night Sweep. Great night for the BEast. Up next, the Hall gets Michigan on the road and the Jays take on in state rival Nebraska.

In the books:

UCLA 86 - Nova 77 (Loss)
Providence 63 - Wisconsin 58 (Win)
Marquette 67 - Illinois 66 (Win)

On deck…

Tuesday 11/16 - The Hall vs. Michigan

The Big East is ruling the Mid-West. With none of the Gavitt Games being played east of Ohio, the BEast is taking care of business on its western flank. The Jays remind the Huskers once again that Nebraska is Big East territory and the Hall takes out #4 Michigan in Ann Arbor. 4 wins with 4 left to play. Tomorrow, Sparty comes to Hinkle to meet the Bull Dogs and the Johnnies are in Bloomington for a date with the Hoosiers.

In the books:

UCLA 86 - Nova 77 (Loss)
Providence 63 - Wisconsin 58 (Win)
Marquette 67 - Illinois 66 (Win)
Hall 67 - Michigan 65 (Win)
Creighton 77 - Nebraska 69 (Win)

On deck…

Wednesday 11/17 - Johnnies vs. Indiana
Michigan State vs. Butler

Thursday 11/18 - Ohio State vs. Xavier
Marquette vs. Ole Miss
Rutgers vs. DePaul

Saturday 11/20 - Nova vs. Tennessee

BE vs. PAC 12 - 0-1
BE vs. B10 - 4-0
BE vs. B12 - 0-0
BE vs. SEC - 0-0
BE vs. ACC - 0-0

TOTAL 4-1
