Big East Tournament Seed Locks: No. 1 Villanova, No. 2 Creighton, No.3 UConn, and No. 11 DePaul

1. Villanova loses and Creighton wins: Villanova 11-4 (.733) and Creighton 14-6 (.700) ==> Villanova retains No. 1 Seed

2. Creighton loses and UConn wins: Creighton 13-7 (.650) and UConn 11-6 (.647) ==> Creighton retains No. 2 Seed

3. UConn loses and Seton Hall wins: UConn 10-7 (.588) and Seton Hall 11-8 (.579) ==> UConn retains No. 3 Seed

4. Seton Hall loses and Xavier wins: Seton Hall 10-9 (.526) and Xavier 7-6 (.538) ==> Xavier takes No. 4 Seed from Seton Hall

5. Seton Hall loses and St. John's wins: TIE Seton Hall 10-9 (.526) and St. John's 10-9 (.526) ==> Two-Team Tiebreaker Rule Applies – Step 2

Two-Team Tie:

If two teams are tied, the following steps are taken in order:

1. Regular season head-to-head results. If the tied teams split their two games or did not play, then proceed to Step 2.

2. Each team’s winning percentage vs. the team or tied [group of] teams occupying the highest position in the standings. Only common opponents will be considered. If an advantage is not determined, proceed to the next team or group of tied teams in the standings for comparison. Continue down through the standings until one team gains an advantage.

7. Coin Flip. If any ties still exist after implementing all of the above tie-breaking procedures, a coin flip is required.

That, in and of itself, is truly impressive. A few months ago, I really wasn't sure we'd get very far into the season before it would get called off. I've been so happy to have the distraction to get through the past few months of winter and Covid.

Overall, not the best year for the Big East, but the league is strong and will bounce back in a big way. I'm parking myself in front of the TV tomorrow for all 5 games and will be doing the same next week for the BET.

Lots of exciting hoops ahead!

Just hoping the results tomorrow give SJU a bye on Wednesday. It's been years since we didn't have to play on opening night.....

Jason Carter CANNOT start this game and should only see limited minutes. Deal with Marquette's talented frontcourt as best you can, but turn the young guns loose.

Villanova vs. Providence -- NOVA. They'll win one for Gipper Gillespie.

Butler vs. Creighton -- BLUEJAYS. That dog was already beyond ugly (sorry Hoyas), but it's about to take a skillet to the face.

Seton Hall vs. St. John's -- JOHNNIES. They can smell it, especially with the Hall probably feeling that their ship has sailed.
