Saw this St. John’s dud coming from a mile away. Oh well. Season over unless they run the table in the big East tournament

Listen DePaul deserves a ton of credit. They came out and played like this was a championship game and St. John’s could not match the energy. Even when SJU took the lead at the end of the first half... DePaul came back in the first few minutes of the second half and quickly established control.

One of those seasons where we really need someone to make a magical run through the BET. Whether it be SJU, Prov, GTown, MQ... whatever the case may be. Conference might need it to maximize bids

Yeah, not surprised we lost like this. We won't be a Tournament team this year. I think the league gets 4 in.

Hall2012 wrote:And one mildly amusing bit at the end with that phantom out of bounds against SHU. The announcers "didn't know what the refs saw" after reviewing to give the ball to Georgetown. It was the same thing as the SHU-SJU game a few years back - it wasn't what they saw, it's that they already called the ball out of bounds which isn't reviewable. They can review who touched it last, but not if it actually went out or not. Seemed like a fitting way to end that disaster.

Yeah, the refs were really really bad against Seton Hall. Cant believe Willard didnt flip out. I mean, it was really bad. Pushoffs, lots of contact, multiple uncalled travels in key moments. And i was really neutral as i watched.

That last out of bounds play, the dimwit blew the whistle before the ball was out of play cuz the idiot didnt know Mamu was just to his left.

Also, 3-second violations are not called anymore. This happened with PC losing at Georgetown too. Hoya big men often just camp out in the lane. Lots of o-rebs and putbacks can result.

Kudos to Butler for fighting like hell.

Thanks for missing all those open looks to make things look respectable. Butler tried, we just aren't good at putting the ball through the hoop. Why weren't we warned that would become part of the game?!?!

Now that is the St. John's team we all know and love! Feels a lot more normal now that we crashed back to reality. If you lose easily to DePaul at home you do not belong in the tourney. Period. Easily one of the most ridiculous losses in memory. DePaul is far and away the biggest joke program for the last 20 yrs or so in our conference. We were at home. In a must win game with tourney implications...and we lose. My expectation was to at least be on bubble this year, so that is still alive technically. But man are we great at crashing back to earth when people finally start giving us respect and hype. It's games like this that make us have to do that much more to earn respect nationally and get ranked in good years. If we didn't always get into major holes early on in conference play, we would have at least some wiggle room to lose this type of game. But our backs were already up against the wall before the game, and now NIT is only hope.
