I would bet on a Nova player, but what if the Cats only play half the conference season?

I guess that means you think Gillespie will be POY, because it's hard to see the coaches choosing a VU soph over upperclassmen with similar/better stats. I personally am leaning toward a Providence Friar, either Watson or Duke.

Here's the thing, David Duke has emerged as the best player in this conference. Certainly from a NBA potential perspective. The guy is on a serious roll...scoring in double figures in every game this season, matched with nearly 5 assists pg. He seems to be the best player on the floor on a regular basis, posting two 30+ games and several 20+.

IMO, if this continues, Duke gets the hardware BUT the Friars have to finish strong.

Since little Mac won POY in 2014, every BE POY—with the exception of Kris Dunne who just happened to be a 2nd team AA—has been on a team that has finished 1st or 2nd in league standings. Dunne and PC finished in 4th. So Duke and PC need to get to Top 4 IMO.

Won’t be Duke. Tough day for PC and terrible performance today for Duke.

Ok I’m going to say it... I’d be shocked if anyone not named Colin Gillespie wins this award. 11 A / 1 TO today. In complete control. He’s not the most athletic or flashy but the guy just gets the job done day in and day out. Killer.

Scruggs pretty much manhandled Butler 24/7/3. if he finishes like this, he still has a shot.

What's strange is that while Scruggs was expected to be good, he was frequently thought of as option 1B behind Freemantle, and the early season seemed to confirm that. Freemantle has been in a funk, though, and Scruggs has been straight-up dominant at times while leading the league in assists. Scruggs no longer in Naji Marshall's shadow is just a different beast.

Stock up:
Gillespie
Zegarowski
JRE

Stock down:
Duke
Mamu
Watson

No change:
Scruggs (trending up but don’t think he has a real chance of POY)
Bouknight (clearly one of the best in the league but isn’t playing)
Nebraska by birth, Creighton by choice.

Got to give him a mulligan on that one. If his scoring average continues to hover around 20 and Cooley can shake these remarkable end of game results, Duke will remain in the conversation. I mean if he can string together several more 20+ games with a couple 30+ thrown in, that has to warrant serious consideration but PC has to start winning.

Champagnie won’t win it this year but assuming he comes back for his junior season he has to be the favorite next year
