The foul was on Molson, not Rhoden.

They may have called it on Molson but I rewound the play 4-5 times. It was a scrum—lots of guys trying to grab it. It fell to Swider and he had complete possession of it. Rhoden was just trying to grab a loose ball but arrived a half second late. His momentum/shoulder knocked Swider to the floor. Had that not happened I’m guessing they would have just let the buzzer sound. But with him falling they would have to call either a foul or a travel IMO.

I've been doing the same and the only part of that sequence I can even remotely see being called a foul would be an over the back call on Molson a little earlier in it. I don't see anything regarding Rhoden, he steps in as Swider comes up backwards a little bit and they bump into each other. It wasn't a shove. There was no more contact than what occurs in 90% of contested rebounds. I agree with you the issue is that Swider falls, making the ref feel the need to call something (foul or travel). If Swider doesn't fall, it's an easy no call. I'm obviously biased, but I think that should've been the case regardless.

Agreed. When looking at the entire play Molson pretty aggressively goes over Robinson Earl’s back first IMO. Lots of contact all around from guys just competing for a loose ball. Just good old fashion let ‘em play Big East BB. Was it not the last few seconds I think that Molson gets whistled for the initial contact. Good no call IMO. But once Swider goes to the ground they had to call something. It looks like he and Molson are just battling for the ball, Swider gets off balance and Rhoden comes in just a split second late and bumps him (you’re right, def not a push; more like momentum as he lunges for the ball), causing Swider to fall.

Everyone has biases, that’s why we’re fans. They blew the whistle at 1.9 seconds. But if Swider had been called for traveling instead and the Hall got the ball under their own basket for a last second shot in a tie game, I’m not sure that would have been ideal either. Much like the Butler - CU game on Saturday you hate to see a single call have such a big impact at a critical time. You want the players to ultimately decide. So instead of focusing on the last 2 seconds I’d like to remember the totality of the other 39:58. It was yet another great game among two teams that bring out a level of competition in each other that I think is unrivaled in this conference right now. Hoping the two meet 2 or 3 more times this year.

It was certainly a great game and if there was no call perhaps I would have been yelling travel, but as things played out I'd be perfectly content with the ref looking the other way on it and going to OT.

And of course the rule is what it is with bonuses, but awarding game deciding free throws from a scramble 90ft from the basket is just tough to take.

It's made more frustrating by the lack of resume opportunities in the big east this year. That could end up being the different between SHU making and missing the tournament.

Oh and Butler won again by 14 last night... Guys are starting to recover and get their legs under them and the freshman are gaining confidence. ;) That's all.

Watched the game live. Very unfortunate way to decide a game. Unless there is blatant shoving or elbowing, you let the players battle it out for the lose ball.

It might just be recency bias, but I think the Big East officiating has been a step below this season. I'm sure that has lots to do with the lack of fans and innate bias for home court advantage. I wonder if the same can be said for other leagues.

I am well and still on top of the dirt, lol. Took a bit of vacation these past couple of weeks

So, my question is, where does someone who already lives in Paradise go for vacation?
