It isn't guaranteed that Jean Lenti Ponsetto will return as AD next year. But she's still negotiating a deal to extend Leitao after this abysmal season. Does she even want to win? Yikes

DePaul could not have picked a worse year to be good in the non-conference schedule. The Big East was just so tough this year.

We appreciate them for having a nice NET prior to Big East play however....

If there had been an NCAA tournament, the rest of the BE would have been very happy that DePaul was so good in the non-conference schedule. And it probably would have helped DePaul get some additional tournament credits. Of course, it probably wouldn't matter because....

Reports are that JLP is trying to push through a three-year extension for Leitao.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is Chicago politics in a nut-shell. DePaul will always be years away from building a sustainable, winning men's basketball program as long as she remains there (whether in title as AD or as consultant/emeritus role). Unfortunately, the hole appears dug to deep.

Their benefit had largely mitigated. They were outside the top 75 and so no longer a road win vs them was a Q1 one.

For what it's worth, the guess here is that JLP will accept a different position within the University once her contract expires in June

Leitao probably gets an extension at the same money he's getting now, but only the first year ends up being guaranteed.

A year from now, the new AD - whoever that is - gets to make the call on whether or not Leitao stays or goes. And if he goes, the new AD gets to pick their coach instead of being saddled with whoever the previous administration chose.

Everyone has to have a Nebraska in their league right? Leitao actually did a nice job last year helping out the Big East. They killed it in nonconference and laid down during conference play really helping the rest of the league....
