‘BIG EAST at 40’ Debuts Tuesday on FS1

NEW YORK -- In celebration of the rich history of the BIG EAST Conference, “BIG EAST at 40” will air on Tuesday, March 3, at 10 p.m. ET on FS1. The special will highlight the conference from its beginnings in 1979 and tell the seminal story of each of its 10 members.

“BIG EAST at 40” features exclusive interviews with current coaches and BIG EAST legends, including Georgetown’s John Thompson, St. John’s Lou Carnesecca and Seton Hall’s P.J. Carlesimo. The piece was produced by Adam Berger and the BIG EAST with assistance from the member institutions.

After Tuesday night’s initial airing, “BIG EAST at 40” will re-air on Wednesday, March 4, at 11 p.m. and Monday, March 9 at 7:30 p.m.

While I'll always applaud Fox Sports for creating original Big East content, I must say it's a little lame that this doc will likely be about 22 minutes with the commercials. Couldn't spring for an hour?

Yeah, it was a nice show but had some things i would've done differently.

Cons:
- music too loud and too dramatic. i could barely hear Louie cuz of the volume.
- each school got just around 90 seconds.

Pros:
- great that they touched on each of the 10 of us.
- great that we still have so many original cast members with us to get interviewed.

How i'd improve it:

- lower the volume, have each school get a different song, and make the song be from like Earth Wind & Fire or funky smooth instrumental like they play on Bobby Flay's Brunch show on the Food Network.

- make each of our 10 stories lighthearded, actually delve into the history thru each decade, show the different arenas we've played at in past years, show our campuses a little more and our location in each home city. Maybe give the story of each schools' founding and original student body type (like PC was founded to help the kids of recent immigrants get an education, etc.

Anyway, what i'm describing would be a major undertaking though.
