It's going to be going up head to head with the Yankees/Red Sox for at least half of the game, if not longer. Remember, Yankees/Red Sox games go really long. 5 of the 19 games this year with them went at least 3:40. And that was regular season. So it's very possible that game might not be over until 11:30, if not later. If that game is 5-1 or something like that at the point the AL game is over- won't be many changeovers at all. Normally you might be right about the early Friday game being the wost game. But going head to head with Yankees/Red Sox is a killer. I'm shocked they didn't start the game at 1030- like they did last year with the Dodgers/Diamondbacks game.
As far as your question about are you more or less likely to watch other games in the playoffs- I'd actually say if either, it'd be less likely. You are already investing watching your team play for 3-4 hours. Lets go to the Braves/Dodgers series. Do you really think a Yankee or Red Sox fan after the game is over will turn over to FS1? I don't. I think they'll go out or head to bed. Also, if you are going to watch another game, it's going to be the other game in your league.
As to your point about well, FS1 will have their shot next year to get Yankees/Red Sox. Yes, it's possible. But it's no guarantee.
Regardless of all this- this week has not gone well for Fox in the least. They had a shot to have Cubs/Brewers and Dodgers/Braves with a further LCS of Cubs/Dodgers. Losing the Cubs is a huge loss.
stever20 wrote:casual fans will care about 1 series and 1 series only this week. That's Yankees/Red Sox. Also, for tonight- I think the general feeling is that there are 3 really good series and then Braves/Dodgers. Game 1 was 6-0 Dodgers. If Dodgers are up big when the Yankees/Red Sox game ends, why would anyone change over?
As far as the Big East is concerned- I don't think that there's much of a benefit for the Rockies being in the playoffs over the Cubs. At all. Colorado is in the Pac 12, which is covered some by Fox. So the area already knows Fox.
Oh, you must really not watch many Boston/New York games. They had 5 games this year over 3:40. 6 last year. And those were regular season games. Now it's the postseason where the games go longer. If Fox is lucky, the game will be over at 11pm.

Stever, you don't appear to be a fan of any team and just post on message boards... so you don't have any insight into viewing habits if your team is active/eliminated. I do. Again, if I asked you which BE fan base has watched more college basketball over the past five years, you know that DePaul would almost certainly be last while Nova would be at the top. Do you think Georgetown engagement is as high now as it was previously? Obviously not.
You logic on the Rockies/Cubs doesn't make any sense. Which is it, we want BE/PAC markets or we don't? You're contradicting yourself.
As for the Red Sox vs Yankees, well let's do some basic math here. 5 games over 3:40 means 14 games under 3:40. (just took a quick look at their regular season schedule, pretty sure 19 games this year)
As for your Braves swipe, yeah we sucked yesterday and I'm not confident we can keep up with the Dodgers. We'll see, but I also don't expect to get blown out every game. Baseball is way too random to predict this stuff.
