So you think it's great the #3 market is out of the playoffs for Fox?

Fox has with last years market info(don't think this season's info is out yet)
Atlanta #9 vs Los Angeles #2
Colorado #17 vs Milwaukee #36
while Turner gets
New York #1 or Oakland #8 vs Boston #10
Cleveland #19 vs Houston #7

FS1 gets 1 game partially in prime time(although potentially up against Yankees/Red Sox) and 1 game fully in prime time (up against Cowboys SNF game). And if New York wins tonight, all the ogygen in MLB will get sucked into the Yankees/Red Sox, like it always does.

What exactly is sunny about that?

As a Braves fan I'm happy to see the Cubs out, but obviously they would've been better for ratings.

Still, this is also about NEW fans checking out FS1, downloading FSGO, etc. Cubs fans already did that a couple years ago when they won it all. Nice to have 3 new teams in there (Braves/Brewers/Rockies). New audiences for FS1/FSGO. Pretty sure those teams haven't been on FS1 before (in the playoffs).

We don't care about Fox's bottom line, but rather getting more fans to watch Big East basketball and get familiar with the channel/app.

Personally I am rooting for the Yankees today, because unlike Stever I am not an FS1 hater but rather an MLB lover. Yankees/Red Sox would be great for the sport and would lead to more interest overall. Don't forget, Fox has the rights to the AL every other year.

Only one of the teams that would have any hopes for Big East is Milwaukee, and if they don't know FS1 by now with both Wisconsin and Marquette- it's probably never going to happen....

I go back to where we were a few days ago. Fox isn't happy with what happened these last 2 days at all. It's been great drama, but it's set up 2 pretty mediocre LDS for Fox.

The thing that's amazing is Yankees/Red Sox don't happen all that often in the playoffs. Only 3 times, with the last being 14 years ago.

Stever- yes of course Cubs would be better for ratings. But as far as the Big East is concerned, Cubs already won it all while on Fox two years ago during their historic run (remember that?). They wouldn't draw any new unique viewers. 3/4 NL teams are new to FS1 and the 4th team is big time (also they are the WEST coast slot, that's all you can ask for since a Western team obviously needs to win the NL West).

Huge win for the Yankees tonight. Great for MLB and Fox.

This is not an MLB AL vs MLB NL war. That is laughable. MLB is competing with literally every other major sport. NFL, NHL and NBA. This is about keeping attention on MLB, keeping NYC interested (as a Johnnies fan, of course I want that), keeping attention on FS1/TBS/Fox.

If Yankees aren't in the playoffs, their fans won't tune into any of the playoffs aside from maybe a couple games during the World Series. At least now they may tune into the NL rather than shutting baseball out completely and turning to NFL/NHL/NBA. Yankees fans will see ads on TBS for FS1/Fox, and of course the Yankees could move on to the World Series... which is on Fox.

Yankees help everyone. A's would've sucked.

Great win for Fox, TBS and MLB tonight!

The thing is that now for TBS, this is 2nd time in 4 years they've hit the absolute best case scenario. 4 years ago they got Cubs/Cardinals and Dodgers/Mets for the LDS. Fox isn't quite as bad off as 4 years ago when they got stuck with Toronto and KC as top 2 seeds, but it's definitely not ideal.

AS far as your point about the West team has to be the west coast slot- The Astros won the AL WEST and are playing the FIRST game on Friday.

Tonight only helps Fox in that they now have chance for #1 market in WS. It's not going to help their LDS ratings out at all. For one- how many folks are really going to flip over from Yankees/Red Sox at 930 on Friday to watch Braves/Dodgers? How many? Sunday you know what New York fans are going to be doing on Sunday night? Watching the Cowboys.

Congrats to TBS for hitting the "absolute best case scenario", but again FS1 and TBS are not competing. They are on the same team. What is good for baseball is good for both. Also, FS1 will have their shot next year to get the Yankees/Red Sox.

Here's a pretty simple question, if your team is in the playoffs are you more or less likely to watch other games in the playoffs? For the vast majority of people the answer would be more likely. As a Braves fan, I am catching every game this year which I haven't done in a long time.

As for your comment about the Astros vs Indians (think this series will get the worst ratings) being the first game on Friday... uh that's a bad thing. It is on at 2 PM in the afternoon. They put it on during the worst time slot possible........

I know you are trying to make the case that Astros are more central than LA so they have the earlier time slot.... but the Braves @ Dodgers is on at 9:30PM EST which is a much, much better time. So your entire argument actually works against you. They put Astros vs Indians during the worst time slot because it'll have the worst ratings.
