As this may be the final installment of the Big East vs. Football 4 (Previously Football 5) on this site, I am also including our overall performance since the realignment in 2013. Recall that this annual thread was started to rebut one of the initial slams against the reformed Big East - we would never be able to be competitive against the power football schools. Well, just like every other doom and gloom scenario, this one was very much inaccurate. So before we get into this years OOC schedule, lets recap the last 11 seasons:

Here are the totals against the Football Five (Now Four) Conferences through last season:

Regular Season - 246-209 (Only one season below .500)
NIT - 7-9 (Two Championships)
NCAA - 30-29 (Four Championships)

TOTAL - 283-247

Now, this year's tentative schedule. Games will be added as schools move through tournaments. For example, On Friday November 22, SJU will play either Tennessee or Virginia. That game will be added when the actual opponent is known and does not appear below at this point.

HERE WE GO....tonight the BEast goes up against the Football 4 for the first time this season. Nova is going to try to Wright the ship (see what I did there?) in a tilt against Virginia. Marquette will play Maryland and remind Kevin Willard that the best basketball conference in the land is not the one with teams in LA. Finally Butler will take on newly anointed F4 school SMU. Can we get three tonight? Sure would be a nice start. Two ACC and one Big 10 to kick things off.

Marquette and Butler are underdogs. Both probably more likely to win than 4.5 favorite Nova.

A 2-1 start for the Big East as Butler tops SMU and Marquette goes on the road to take down Maryland. Nova falls to Virginia in an ugly game that was difficult to watch (especially for Nova fans). Two match ups with the ACC up next as Xavier hosts Wake and the Hoyas host the Irish in DC.

Nice wire to wire win for X. Seems like Conwell's poor shot selection early led to a disjointed offense for a while, but man, he was money at the end.

Marcus Foster also was a good pickup.

A Big East / ACC split this afternoon as the Hoyas fall to the Irish and Xavier handles Wake in Cincy. Marquette takes on their second F4 team on Tuesday as the Boilermakers roll into Milwaukee.

Unbelievable performance by Marquette last night. Purdue didn't look like they even belonged on the same court. Also good to see Nova finally show signs of life. Hope that performance carries over to their next game with Maryland. Finally, next order of business will be Johnnies taking care of Baylor tomorrow.
