Madison is 80 miles and 80 minutes from Milwaukee, and UW is the State U.

Villanova is 300 miles and 5 hours from Pittsburgh.

i didn't know a 3-seed could be put in such an ideal location.

All top 4 seeds can be. If you're a 3 or 4 seed it gets dicey obviously but it's still possible as we see.
9 was Wisconsin so Milwaukee
10 was Tennessee so Indianapolis makes sense
11 was Purdue so Milwaukee was closest
12 was Texas Tech so only had left San Diego, Buffalo, Portland, or Pittsburgh.

so just a huge difference in what was available from 9-12.

updated historical numbers after this year
1 143-1 4-0 147-1
2 135-9 3-1 138-10
3 122-22 4-0 126-22
4 113-31 4-0 117-31
5 93-51 2-2 95-53
6 90-54 1-3 91-57
7 87-57 3-1 90-58
8 71-73 1-3 72-76

so crazy how little difference 1st round records are between 5-7. BUT to get out of 2nd round it gets to be a huge difference.

8 14

Another typical postseason. NOVA carrying the wieght with everyone else falling apart. Creighton has a very difficult opponent, Providence looks good but Cooley has never made the sweet 16 so again same old Big East, underwhelming.

If Nova and Providence win tomorrow, the league would be almost exactly where it would be expected to be with the seeds the league got. 2 sweet 16 teams. Nova 1 and then you figured between Providence and UConn with 4/5 being about a 50/50 proposition the 2nd. Would have 11 units already banked.

Now if Nova and Providence falter this weekend, then this would be considered a poor tourney for the league realistically. Lets see what happens this weekend.

Friday was a borefest power conferece domination, so Sunday won't really have any sexy cinderella potential. Saturday does have a number of crazy upset potential. BE needs to win at least a game today, or it'll be Nova & dwarves narrative again.

Look who showed up with negativity again. UCONN is the only disappointment so far, and you're already assuming Providence will lose tomorrow because Cooley has never made the sweet 16... lol

I kind of agree with him. It’s not just that SHU and Marq lost but how they lost. Completely outclassed and overmatched. UNC looked like it was an older brother playing against a younger one. And SHU didn’t look like it could score on a HS JV team last night. We need to do better; bottom line. If we can get 2/3 into the S16 then it’s a success. Without Kalk CU’s going to have to pull a rabbit. PC got a break (lol, where have we heard that before), but still have to win the game. VU vs a physical P6 team getting healthy with a coach that knows us well and has had success head-to head vs Jay, worries me.

One thing that's become clear to me this season, is that although we all know Villanova is the class of the league, the separation between them and everyone else is as wide as it's ever been. If you look at where everyone was in December, how many teams seemed to really improve between then and now? Nova was definitely one of the ones that did. With the Johnnies absent as always from March Madness, I had kind of adopted Seton Hall as the team I wanted, and thought would make a deep run. What an embarrassment. I've never seen a coach so calm while his team was being dismantled and humiliated the way the Williard was last night. Maybe if he spent more time preparing his team for a mediocre TCU, and less time huddling with his agent over the Maryland job, his team wouldn't have been a complete no show. I think he's reached his ceiling at the Hall and maybe it's best for both if he moves on. And finally, i really hope Providence wins today. Two in the Sweet Sixteen is what we need, and we definitely need somebody besides Nova doing some of the heavy lifting.

Not sure that I agree. They’ve had the most NCAA success - more than almost anyone nationally really so it’s okay for teams in the league to be behind them. I feel like the next 5 years, we will see Creighton and UConn catch up. Could be wrong.
Nebraska by birth, Creighton by choice.

I agree. Creighton should be top 15 team next year, especially if we can pick up a top transfer. We will have 3 returning from the All Freshmen team, the top big in the conference (this year as well) in soph Kalk, a redshirt top 100 freshman (and Tenn Player of the Year and Mike Miller's son) Mason Miller, and two top 150 recruits. This is a team that has been tested this year and they all have bought in to Mac's system.
