The stuff Stever is babbling on about is out of date. The concerns and worries are so far behind us in the rearview mirror. Back in May 2013, just the survival of FS1 was under discussion. Back then, XU, Butler and Creighton hadn't officially joined. We have 2 national championships in the last 3 years, etc.

There is no bad outcome in having MLB playoffs on FS1, which would have seemed unlikely or impossible in May 2013. The only scenarios under debate right now are how high will our levels of insane success be. Like, will we drive around in a Porsche, Maserati or Lamborghini...? See? There's no bad answer to that, no matter which car TBS gets to drive.

The Big East haters from 2013 have spent 5+ years figurately and repeatedly getting bashed across the sides of their f-cking heads with a 2 by 4. There's like 3 people left who even bother to mock the Big East... Stever and then maybe 2 guys holed away for 5 years in a cave on an tropical island like some Japanese soldier who still thinks we're fighting World War 2.

TL:DR. - Think of the knight in the Monty Python Holy Grail skit.

Well put. Stever's posts have the exact opposite effect of what he's trying to achieve since the BE has been so ridiculously successful. At this point we hardly even have Twitter/ESPN bashing us. Literally just him. That starts to get boring, so at least we have Stever to debate against. Same way how the opposition party in politics is able to rally their own voters most of the time. It is almost as if Stever works for FS1 and is trying to rally people to watch the network. :)

As for the MLB playoffs, my Braves have been an embarrassment. Wasn't expecting to win the series, but figured we'd at least score a run or two. Fortunately we're a very young team and should be good for the next 5-6 years. Season has definitely been a success.

So having quite possibly if not probably only 4 LDS games(with 1 going 5 innings with the Red Sox/Yankees and other being up against Sunday Night Football with the Cowboys)- is a good outcome? It's definitely not what Fox was hoping, lets say that.

You can act like just having MLB is a positive, and it is But it's not as huge of a positive as it could be. Imagine if this years AL was on Fox. THAT would be a huge plus for Fox, and you know it.

What thing has gone really well for FS1, where they've caught the huge break with ratings (similar to what TBS has this year)? The closest thing I can think of was 2016 where Cubs beat Dodgers. EVEN there- the series went only 6 games and they lose out on a game 7 where the ratings go to just another level.

I really don’t watch FS1 other than Big East hoops and I never watch ESPN anymore. I could care less about any of the arguments for or against to be honest. Just seems like arguing for the sake of hearing yourself speak.

Your comment seems like arguing for the sake of hearing yourself speak, since it doesn't contribute in any way to the thread. We're on a message board during the off-season, and some of us do care about other sports on FS1. My #1 sport has always been MLB, so I'm glad FS1 has a major stake in my two favorite sports.

More importantly, FS1 was very much in doubt at one point, which would've been horrible for the Big East. All the developments such as getting Big Ten content are definitely beneficial for the Big East. Need some casual viewers like ESPN has.

As predicted, MLB is prioritizing Yankees/Red Sox (as they should) with Braves/Dodgers being the next most important (which Stever was wrong about). Astros/Indians yet again given the worst time slot today.

saw Friday ratings for 3 of the games....

Yankees/Red Sox 5.571 million
Rockies/Brewers 1.765 million
Braves/Dodgers 2.031 million

haven't seen the ratings from the Indians/Astros game on Friday. But even w/o it- TBS got 50% more viewers than FS1 did. TBS has gotten numbers in first 2 games that were best in years for each game.

Game 1 in the Rockies/Brewers series got 2.46 million viewers.

So got 2 other games for Fox- games 3 and 4 of the Dodgers/Braves series.. And game 3 was up against a Cowboys game that got better ratings than last year by 17% over last year- and best in week 5 since 2015.

Really for MLB- this was a setup with 1 top series, and then everything else.

1 thing kind of interesting. Looking at the college football selections for Saturday- which would be game 2 of the LCS- Big Fox has 0 college football scheduled that day, but FS1 has 4 games scheduled..

looking ahead a week- when it would be game 7 of the LCS- Big Fox has 3 games at noon, 330, and 730. FS1 has games at noon and 330 only

Looks like looking at the TV listings- game 2 is going to be only game on Big Fox with other 3-6 on FS1.

The Big East is driving around in a Porsche in St-Tropez with the top down, with 10 blondes in bikinis (or less) hanging on us and discussing our plans for the evening (drinks, bedroom, dinner, bedroom, drinks, bedroom, in that order)...

Meanwhile, some solo tourist from Northern Virginia in Bermuda shorts, knee high sweatsocks, Buster Brown shoes, and a pork pie hat is shouting at us from the curb... pointing out to us to a guy doing the same exact thing that we're doing, only the other guy is driving a Lambo and has 15 women with him.

In the situation we're in described above, why should we care about what the dork on the curb is saying?

Meanwhile, Mike Dunleavy just pulled up in his 1993 Ford Tempo to a Wendy's drive-thru in Muskogee, trying to decide between a Baconator or a Dave's Single.

Yeah, but none of the bikinis are bright green...blondes look hotter in bright green bikinis. Where are the bright green bikinis, Billy?

PS I don't think the solo tourist ever actually makes it to St. Tropez...just sits on the sidelines and tells the players they are doing it all wrong.

Nobody ever said this year's NL was an ideal scenario for Fox or anywhere close. I simply said that Fox must've been happy to have two NL tiebreaker games. As a Big East fan, I like seeing new audience tuning into FS1. Fox's bottom line isn't going to impact the Big East's contract. We already had the best case NL scenario two years ago with Cubs vs Dodgers. Repeating that series wouldn't bring any new viewers to FS1. Maybe next year we will get the ideal AL ALCS (Yankees vs Red Sox?- would be better than what TBS got this year with that series in the ALDS).

As for the results, Dodgers vs Brewers is Fox's ideal NLCS given the 4 teams they started with. That also involves Milwaukee, which is one BE audience we really hope breaks out this year if Marquette can have a big season. But of course, you would never mention that.
