Willard says something to the refs and gets an immediate T. Wright loses his mind on the refs and gets a "warning" - and there's your difference in the score.

Proud that the team showed a lot of fight to get back in it and have a chance to win in the end, but what a brutal way to lose. I thought SHU was done midway through the 2nd half when a few calls didn't go their way and then Willard got T'd up allowing Nova to extend the lead a bit for the first time. Great fight, brutal loss.

Bingo...GQJ has multiple means of persuasion. Willard needs more expensive suits and closer connections.

BTW- Gillespie is good at basketball.

Yeah that’s a good theory until you look up and realize that Nova was called for more fouls than the Hall. Every time Nova wins in a squeaker the knee jerk reaction is that the victory was tainted because “Jay gets calls.” What would have been interesting would have been if Mamu actually grabbed that long pass and converted at the buzzer after pushing off on not one but two defenders. He couldn’t get his hands up in time because each was on a different Nova player’s back. Whistles remained silent.

It was a terrific game. The Hall is a really good team. We were fortunate. The foul on Rhoden was a foul though. Do you want to win the game that way? Of course not. But our guy got the rebound then was pushed to the ground. Should that have been called a travel instead?

The foul was on Molson, not Rhoden.

They may have called it on Molson but I rewound the play 4-5 times. It was a scrum—lots of guys trying to grab it. It fell to Swider and he had complete possession of it. Rhoden was just trying to grab a loose ball but arrived a half second late. His momentum/shoulder knocked Swider to the floor. Had that not happened I’m guessing they would have just let the buzzer sound. But with him falling they would have to call either a foul or a travel IMO.

I was rooting for the Hall so they could improve their seeding, but Nova did their thing, something about the way Nova plays feels so non-chalant, relaxed, calm. Looked like they could have kicked it into a higher gear if they wanted, anyways I hope we get to see Nova v Baylor in March. Baylor is so physical would be a great contrast of styles game.

Good to see Slater and Swider start and contribute. We'll be a tough team to beat in March with solid bench play.

I've been doing the same and the only part of that sequence I can even remotely see being called a foul would be an over the back call on Molson a little earlier in it. I don't see anything regarding Rhoden, he steps in as Swider comes up backwards a little bit and they bump into each other. It wasn't a shove. There was no more contact than what occurs in 90% of contested rebounds. I agree with you the issue is that Swider falls, making the ref feel the need to call something (foul or travel). If Swider doesn't fall, it's an easy no call. I'm obviously biased, but I think that should've been the case regardless.

Big East refs decide a game in the final moments. Shocking!
