Just staying true to form for your amusement in these dark days of the CROVID-19.

There's my man XUP!!!!

No doubt...never too early to crank up the hyperbole machine!

Seriously though, it's blatantly obvious that Coach Steele is building toward a Jay Wright style approach based on our incoming trio of recruits. All 3 are multi-tooled playmakers with elite scoring ability. All 3 are known to be very effective defenders as well. Not to mention that they all have solid reputations of possessing extremely high BBall IQs.......sound familiar?

BTW, I think all 3 graduated at the top of their class....which is nice.

No doubt about that. BBall IQ, multi dimensional (shooters help) guys that fit the culture are key. Been documented many times how Jay felt he strayed from that after the 2009 FF. Program suffered for a bit and then the ship was wrighted (see what I did there?) with Arch's class.

Steele is awesome recruiter. You guys are rolling there. I think, and hope for you folks, that going through the cycle with his guys will make all the difference.

Per Goodman:

Xavier has landed Gardner Webb grad transfer Nate Johnson, per source.

6-3, 180, SG
Stats: 13.5 ppg

Scout’s take: “big-time shooter who worked to make himself a good shooter. Really developed in his time at Gardner-Webb. I think he’s a specialist at the high major level.”

A good get and a needed get for Xavier since they weren't a very good 3-point shooting team

Hopefully he works out for you guys. You can always use a shooter.

Wasn't Jason Carter supposed to be a sniper? It's interesting...we didn't get great returns in '18-19 with Joe Cremo, who transferred in from a low-major, and was touted as this great shooter. You wonder if the speed and size of players at the highest level of D1 causes problems for guys used to larger shooting windows and smaller defenders at the lower level. As with all things all you can do is hope they can contribute. Getting another shooter is can only be a good thing.

Jeff Goodman

Now
Xavier has landed a commitment from D-2 star Bryan Griffin of Mercy College in NY, he told @Stadium
. The 6-8, 230-pound big man averaged 19.6 points and 14.5 boards this season and will be able to play this season for Travis Steele and the Musketeers.

Griffin will likely be Xavier's second or third big off the bench. I suspect that they will start the season with the following lineup:

PG: KyKy Tandy
SG: Paul Scruggs
SF: Colby Jones
F: Jason Carter
C: Zach Freemantle

Bench: Dwon Odom, Nate Johnson, CJ Wilcher, Deonte Miles, and Bryan Griffin.

Daniel Ramsey is questionable to be healthy still. I don't see Xavier adding another grad transfer, but could see a sit one play two year guy being added. They are currently at 11 scholarships for next season.

Jason Carter was not brought in to be a three point shooter. He is a mobile forward that can drive the ball and play in the post a bit. He did however shoot 32% from three in Big East play.

Yep, the shooting was just a bonus, and this next year he should probably be able to play more at the 4 and 5. The 3 was not a good position for him, and he was there out of necessity as Jones and Freemantle both played a lot.

Paul Scruggs is coming back as Captain. Should be leading a talented but young bunch. :D
