The home for Big East hoops

Right now, it's still waaaaay early, but if the Big East still manages to get five teams into the dance this year (in COVID no less) with an expected conference-down year, that would be nothing short of incredible. Five was the conference's average before UConn came aboard. If we get five as our floor, that shows how deep and talented the league can be on a yearly basis. I guess we all have to wait until March to determine seeds, but still, the bids are impressive.

.
Joe Lunardi completely lost the plot this morning:

Bracketology – Joe Lunardi, ESPN – updated Tuesday, December 8, 2020
1. Villanova
4.Creighton
9. Marquette

10. UConn
11. Xavier (Play-in game)

Marquette uses strong 2nd half to beat AP No. 9 Creighton 89-84 – Associated Press/ESPN – Monday, December 14, 2020

Bracketology – Joe Lunardi, ESPN – updated Tuesday, December 15, 2020
1. Villanova
4. Creighton
9. Xavier
10. UConn
12. Marquette (Play-in game)

No. 9 seed Marquette beats No. 4 seed Creighton at Omaha. Creighton remains unchanged in this morning's Bracketology, but Marquette drops three seeds to a play-in game as a No. 12 seed. Not one of Joe’s better days.

Bracketology will be worthless this season, especially with the lack of the OOC games. The most recent one was clearly completed without the MU win over Creighton. I did LOL at the AAC only having one bid - that league's under-performance never gets old.

I think the T-Rank is a more effective metric over Lunardi. It combines, NET, ELO and resume. It is here: https://barttorvik.com/tranketology-now.php
#2 Villanova
#4 Xavier
#7 UConn
#8 Marquette
#10 Providence

Right now, there is now way Duke or Kentucky should be "In" right now, or, frankly, anything close to it. Kentucky, with four losses already, shouldn't even be the first four out.

NCAA just cleared all transfers for this year, so Xavier just got a big boost with Ben Stanley. I think Creighton may have had a similar situation.

Possibly SHU was well with Tray Jackson, but they weren't even pursuing a waiver for him so they may opt to have him sit out the year anyway.

Creighton will get Duke transfer Alex O’Connell eligible. People are excited about him but I’m not sure who he will take minutes from.
Nebraska by birth, Creighton by choice.

Before the season started the NCAA, due to the COVID pandemic, deemed this year exempt as it pertains to all players eligibility.

The ruling today covers ALL transfers, including those who were seeking/denied waivers, as well as those who were planned sit outs. I’m not familiar with Tray Jackson’s situation, but he loses nothing this year (eligibility wise) if he decides to play.

It's closing in on Christmas and DePaul is still undefeated.

We should be in.

I know how we all feel about ESPN here, but 6 projected bids for this year isn't a bad spot to be in.
