Reviewing Butler

Let's continue our reviews! Let's check out the Dawgs!

OUT:
*Sean McDermott
*Henry Baddley
*Derrik Smits
*Kamar Baldwin
*Jordan Tucker

STAY:
*Christian David
*Bryce Nze
*Aaron Thompson
*Bryce Golden

IN:
*Myles Wilmoth
*Myles Tate
*Chuck Harris
*Carlos "Scooby" Johnson
*JaKobe Coles

My 0.02: The Dawgs got off to an amazing start. Nice wins over Minnesota, Mizzou, Stanford, Ole Miss, Florida and Purdue. They were just inches away from beating Baylor. Also got an early conference win vs CU. After that, it was a roller coaster in conference play. What happened? I didn't get a chance to watch all that many Butler games so I'm not totally sure. Did Christian David getting hurt play a part? What do we think of LaVall Jordan? IMO, he hasn't been awful but he needs to step it up. Most talented freshman class in program history coming in next year. Let's see if he can do something with them. I also think Nze, Thompson and Tucker are good players. I think the Dawgs are a middle-of-the-pack team.

I really enjoyed this Butler team. They made you work for everything and Baldwin was clutch when needed. I think the injury to Thompson hurt them during the middle of conf play when they stumbled a bit. He was a really good defender and steady on O. I thought Jordan did a great job overall. They’ll miss the guys leaving for sure but def have some pieces coming back that will form a pretty good nucleus. I expect BU to be top half of the league and a tourney team again next year. Tucker needs to step up and be a go to guy IMO. He’s got too much talent just to be an average contributor. He needs to be a 15+ pt per game guy at minimum.

True, I mean the guy was once playing in a DUKE uniform, for crying out loud. He's gotta be the guy for next season.

Losing David made our bench really short, then Thompson in and out for the middle stretch hurt a ton! He made the offense go and freed up Kamar to play free and not guard the #1 guard on the defensive side.

Next year is going to be very interesting with the incoming class and who we transfer in. A lot of winners coming in with a 4 time state champion on the #2 in the nation ranked HS team. (Tate) Michigan's Mr. Basketball. (Shooby Jonnson) I think another one won there state championship, but can't remember who... :D

I'm excited to see how it all fits together.
Lets go Dawgs!

I counted the Dawgs out for this past season. I won't make that mistake again. Butler, has been a consistent player since their arrival in the BEAST.
Butler has made the dance 4 of the 7 years (5 as they would have made the 2020 Dance) in the Big East, only missing in 2014 & 2019. They have consistently
won 20 and have been in the upper half of the conference. No one has given the Dawgs anything...they have earned respect.

2013-14 14-17/4-14 9th BE
2014-15 23-11/12-6 2nd BE
2015-16 22-11/10-8 5th BE
2016-17 25-9/12-6 2nd BE
2017-18 21-14/9-9 4th BE
2018-19 16-17/7-11 9th BE
2019-20 22-9/10-8 5th BE

Butler has been a team I have never held in high esteem. This year has changed my opinion. I drafted both McDermott (3 pt shooting) and Baldwin
(fallback after missing on other star guards) on my BE Fantasy team. After relying on both all season I have newfound respect for Butler.
Both players were consistently high caliber players and teammates, with surprising reliability and durability. They done good.

I, for one, will not fall victim to underestimating Butler (Kmacker's boys) again.

Thanks Gtmo, but we will be great or struggle with how fast the freshman pick it up...

I'd love to join a BE fantasy team! Where can I find one? Is there an opening in your league for 2020-21?
