Refs didn’t even look at the shot clock violation with seconds to play that would have given creighton the ball in a tie game. Maybe the Big East needs to look at why the refs didn’t do their job.

Refs didn’t even look at the shot clock violation with seconds to play that would have given creighton the ball in a tie game. Maybe the Big East needs to look at why the refs didn’t do their job.

That was absolutely a blatant shot clock violation that was not called for reasons unknown. I watched that ending numerous times only because it was such an obvious infraction, and felt I had to be missing something.

What’s troubling is the refs, after missing the call although ideally positioned, merely gathered at center court instead of checking the monitor at the end of regulation. One can only surmise that they consciously swallowed their whistles, or simply missed the call completely. Yet, the latter explanation could/should have been remedied as they(refs) were informed immediately of the gaffe by McDermott/other officials. This was not a random missed call, but a fixable lapse if only the refs had adhered to their end of game protocols.

Creighton should have been awarded possession with approximately 6.5 seconds left, tie game.

I saw very little of the game, but Brian O'Connell is the absolute worst ref on the planet. I told you guys this last weekend. Whenever O'Connell refs a Friar game, i get agita and toss my TV out the window. The guy is a douche.

With no offense intended to our Butler faithful as they simply do not have enough arrows in the quiver this year... But even without Z, the Jays were trotting out the much more talented team. It's a tough league and you're not always going to have your A game. But the Jays should beat the Dawgs with their C game also. The refs didn't cause Mitch B to score all of 2 points in 43 minutes of action. They didn't give up the 13 pt 2nd half lead. They didn't score just 1 basket in the entire overtime period. If the Jays didn't put themselves in that position to start with, then single piss-poor calls don't mean as much.

If you are a top 10 team you need to find a way, even with your General out with an injury IMO.

So if I understood the explanation, the refs said they made a mistake and couldn't correct it because they didn't catch it in time?
